RAIN DATE: JUNE 18 & 19
2022 Featured Location:
With over 40 participating artists, this two day outdoor festival will be a celebration of the creative process. Visitors can watch artists paint, discover their local history, and learn about nature, all in an inspiring, farm setting. The Wet Paint Festival will take place on June 4th and June 5th at Sherwood-Jayne Farm, located at 55 Old Post Road in East Setauket.
The event will be free and open to the public.
(No dogs are allowed at the farm)
Now in its 18th year, the Wet Paint Festival will include new features for visitors – guided tours on art, nature, and history, live music, food, and children’s activities. As in previous years, it will provide the public with an opportunity to observe some of Long Island’s plein air painters as they capture the area’s historic and natural beauty. Through a partnership with Preservation Long Island, however, guides will also be on site to provide history tours of the Sherwood Jayne House, one of the area’s most historic landmarks. The Four Harbors Audubon Society will lead tours on the ecology and wildlife of the area as well. And regional artists will lead guided tours on plein air painting. Gallery North will also team up with WUSB 90.1 fm/107.3 fm Stony Brook, NY to present live musical performances each day.
To enrich the festival experience, visitors will also be able to pre-purchase picnic lunches from LevelUp Kitchen before the event, and enjoy a delicious picnic in an idyllic farm setting …and even enjoy an ice cream cone after!
Gallery North is thrilled to present this special experience for our community. Our hope is that this cultural event will teach the public about both plein air painting and the creative process, and inspire a new generation of artists.
After the Festival, all participating artists will then be featured in an exhibition at Gallery North that will be on view from July 7 - August 7. An opening reception will be held at Gallery North on July 7 from 6 pm - 8 pm.
Registration is required for the artists participating in the festival.
The Wet Paint Festival is generously sponsored by Jefferson’s Ferry, bld Architecture, Suffolk County’s Department of Economic Development and Planning, and Glynn, Mercep & Purcell.
