ANGELA STRATTON
"I was inspired to become an artist in my early years of employment at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. While wandering the great halls of the Metropolitan I was immensely intrigued by the great masters and the style of realism. Therefore, I sought my education in the masters tradition of academic realism. The masters have a strong impact on my work but I adhere to expressing and developing my own style. My strong points have always been the portrait and figure but since retiring have been able to focus more on still life and plein air landscape painting as well. Whether working in my studio, in sketch groups or outdoors, I love being able to dedicate each and every day to the ‘art of creating’."
Angela recieved her education in in academic realism at The Reilly League of Artists Inc. under Cesare Borgia; to include portrait, figure, picture making, still life and landscapes in various mediums and styles with particular emphasis on oil techniques. She continues independent studies through various workshops and demonstration lecture series, as she believes an art education is a lifetime adventure. Since 1978 Angela has built an impressive body of work, and exhibits in juried and group shows. Her works hang in many private collections. She is currently affiliated with the Oil Painters of America, American Women Artists, Salmagundi Club and C. L. Wolfe Art Club, to name a few. As an award winning artist, her achievements are not limited to painting alone. She continues to find many rewards teaching drawing and painting to teens and adults.
