Sheila Blunt

Based in Queens, New York, Blunt creates traditional pottery embellished with her own style of surface decoration, sculpture or carving. 

"Almost all of my pottery is thrown on the wheel. My most often used motifs are mermaids, dragons, giraffes and cats. Except for the extremely cut-out works, all of the pottery is functional. Glazing the sculpted and carved-out works often requires wiping, waxing, and multiple brushings.”

Blunt is currently on the board at The National Art League and has received numerous awards for her ceramic works.
