Collection: Carlina Valenti
After 40 years in commercial art, Carlina Valenti now devotes her “art time” to her watercolor paintings. Still lifes are her subject of choice and she never knows when an item will catch her attention and become the subject of her next painting. As a watercolorist, Carlina describes herself as "something of an oddity" – her paintings are created in the photorealist style rather than the loose wash usually associated with watercolor. She wants the end result to be as faithful a representation of the original scene as possible.
Carlina gravitates to still lifes so that she can take multiple photos of her set-up and then work directly from the individual items. Carlina loves to work with lots of color! Lollipops, candies, fruits and vegetables and brightly patterned china are the items that populate a majority of her works. She likes to think of her still lifes as “eye candy”, colorful images of everyday objects waiting to be viewed and admired.
