Graham Marshall

"Growing up in Ottawa, Canada, I spent summers in or near fresh water and winters on the ice and snow. I was influenced by the wilderness landscape of eastern Ontario and the early Canadian impressionists who painted the untamed terrain. They saw bright colors in snow-hung boughs and rocky outcrops. And, somehow, used color and composition to suggest isolation. I am interested in sculptural forms of nature and saturated colors. I believe that one’s point of view can change what is seen and how it is interpreted. I’m learning how to capture the many moods of nature by considering changes in texture and qualities of light."
