"In my work I try to capture the atmospheric conditions in terms of light, tone and color. I paint what I see and try not to compromise color. I am concerned with some details but do not obsess over them. I paint the surface tones as I see them trying to be fluid and spontaneous with my brush strokes. In painting one must have the spirit or feeling for the subject, creativity happens at different times as it comes from the soul. Looking at nature, abound with beauty inspires my spirit towards creativity."

Joseph Rotella is a Plein Air painter based in New York and South Florida. Joseph studied at the Brooklyn Museum, attended the High School of Art and Design in Manhattan, the State University at Farmingdale, and the City University at Queens College.
