Travel to Cuba with the Global Arts Media is under special license from OFAC, the U.S. Treasury Department. It is a requirement of the license that each traveler have a full-time schedule of educational exchange activities that will result in meaningful interaction between the travelers and individuals in Cuba.

To accommodate everyone’s diverse schedule, the Tour Operator determined that each traveler would book their own flights to Miami and hotel accommodations in Miami the night before we travel to Havana based on what is convenient for them.

The Tour Operator is securing  a 10:00 am charter flight from Miami to Havana where each traveler will need to check in at the  terminal at 6:00 am the morning of May 20th.   For convenience, it is suggested that travelers stay at the hotel within the airport – the Miami International Airport Hotel.  The hotel has recently been renovated, so the rooms have been updated.  On the morning of departure, we will meet within the Miami International Airport at a predetermined terminal.

A few weeks prior to departure, travelers will receive a travel packet containing, among other things, a visa, an airline ticket, Havana hotel voucher, and a Letter of Authority affirming that the bearer is traveling with an authorized agency.

An email will be sent with Cuba travel trips, suggested reading materials, a list of restaurants and other relevant information.  You will have free time on this trip, so this information will be useful in planning that time.  The Tour Operator will also schedule a telephone conference call 3-4 weeks before departure to answer any remaining questions travelers may have.
As far as return flights from Miami to your home airport, as soon as we confirm the timing of our return flight from Havana (approximately 3 weeks prior to departure), travelers will be advised when to make airline reservations home from Miami.

Groundbreaking: New Community Art Center

Gallery North is pleased to announce the groundbreaking for the new Community Art Center (CAC) at Gallery North on Monday, October 20 at 9:00am.

The expansion of the current studio space will allow the growth of Gallery North’s Visual Arts programming. Spanning 1,500 sq. ft., the CAC will provide much needed space for art classes, arts in healthcare programs, printmaking and photography. The added square footage will enable the Community Art Center to offer innovative fine arts education and outreach activities for children and adults, advanced workshop opportunities and collaborative studio space for artists, inspiring ArTalks presented by local and visiting artists, and an arts related film and discussion series.

Embarking on its 50th year, Gallery North is committed to expanding the arts and culture in the Three Village community and surrounding areas. The CAC will add vitality to the region by making art more accessible to experienced artists and individuals with an emerging interest in art.

Attending the groundbreaking ceremony will be State Assemblyman Steve Englebright, Suffolk County Legislator Kara Hahn, and Jennifer Martin on behalf of Town of Brookhaven Councilwoman, Valerie Cartright. Remarks will be given by Paul Lamb, President of the Gallery North Board of Trustees, and Judith Levy, Director, Gallery North.
